This
revelation can be hidden or covered over as reflected in the source
of defilement
in Leviticus 19 and 20. First 19 and verse 31, which states this,
“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither
seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am
the LORD your God.” Next chapter 20 where in verse 6 and 27 we find
this, “The soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and
after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set My face
against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.......A
man also or woman that has a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard,
shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones:
their blood shall
be
upon them.”
Then
there is the abominable
as seen in Deuteronomy 18, beginning where spiritism is forbidden at
verse 9 through the end of verse 14 and this statement, “When you
are come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall
not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There
shall not be found among you any
one that makes his son or his
daughter to pass through the fire, or
that uses divination, or
an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a
consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For
all that do these things are
an abomination to the LORD: and because of these abominations the
LORD your God does drive them out from before you. You
shall be perfect with the LORD your God. For these nations, which you
shall possess, hearkened to observers of times, and to diviners: but
as for you, the LORD your God has not suffered you to
do these things.” (look closely at 2Corinthians 6:11-7:3)
In
Isaiah 8 we find this as being a vain
thing beginning at verse 11 through verse 22, “The
LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I
should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say
not, with confederacy, to all them
to
whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear with their
fear, nor be afraid. But Sanctify the LORD of Hosts Himself; and let
Him be
your fear, and let
Him be
your dread. And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of
stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for
a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among
them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be
taken.
Bind
up the testimony, seal the law among My disciples. And I will wait
upon the LORD, that hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I
will look for Him. Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given
me are
for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, which
dwells in mount Zion.
When
they shall say, to seek them that have familiar spirits, and to
wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek their
God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if
they speak not according to this word, it
is
because
there is
no light in them. And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and
hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry,
they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and
look upward. And they shall look to the earth; and behold trouble and
darkness, dimness of anguish; and
they shall be driven
to darkness.”
This
is in rather strange language, but here goes looking for selfish and
greedy things, our next topic.
