Looking to Joshuah 9:3-15 to see what it has to reveal: “When the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai, they did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy. And they went to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, and said to him, and to the men of Israel, 'We be come from a far country: now therefore make a league with us.' And the men of Israel said to the Hivites, 'Peradventure dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?' And they said to Joshua, 'We are your servants.' And Joshua said to them, 'Who are you? and from whence come you?' And they said to him, 'From a very far country your servants are come because of the name of the LORD your God: for we have heard the fame of Him, and all that He did in Egypt, and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth. Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, We are your servants: therefore now make a league with us. This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go to you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy: And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.' And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD. And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware to them.”
This
is clearly a false profession of deception with the sole purpose to
deceive and lead the many a stray, because of the few who liad.

I'll look at the innocent as found in Matthew 27:24 in the figure of
Pilate when he enacted the custom of the traditions of the Hebrew
fathers and others by the washing of his hands: “When Pilate saw
that he could not prevail nothing, but rather a tumult was made, he took
water, and washed his
hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of
this just person: see you
to it. Then
answered all the people said, His blood be
on us, and on our children. Then released he Barabbas to them: and
when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him
to be crucified.”
Pilate placed Jesus back into the hands of His false accusers, the lynchmob that wonted only the taste of blood. Over the years since many have raised the question of whether this was the hand of God doing the action of crucifixion. These people with the High Priest and other Priests and Pilate were in effect doing a castration, which the words used “wether” means when combined with crucifixion. Jesus was figured throughout scripture as a lamb set aside, inspected and approved of GOD for this purpose. Each year in the Jewish calendar there were many such rituals of washings and bloodletting for purification. But these all lacked one thing, the sanctification of ones own heart. This action of wethering only GOD can do and indeed does do it, and when we allow it this is done every day. Because of what He did through Jesus in the presense and sight of all gathered around about that early morning. They all bear witness of this event as Paul states it in Colossians where he states this in: Colossians 2:6-7, 8-15, 16-19 “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the LORD, walk in Him: being rooted and built up in Him, and established in the (remove "the" and change it to, His) faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwelled all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And you are being made complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power: In Whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with Him in Baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, Who having raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has He quickened [circumcised in the wethering of the foreskin of our heart and made alive again] together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (the spirit of the Law of Moses not understood as the litter kills but the Spirit gives Life to our spirit) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; Having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it (this is explained in the above paragraph).
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the Body is Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, not holding the Head, from which all the Body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increases with the increase of God.”
