The Epistle to the Hebrews part CCXCVI

This morning while in our daily study of God and His Word Christ Jesus as revealed in Revelation we were reminded of why we came out from among them. Allow me to explain what I mean. Three times in our young lives we were told to come out from among them as witnessed by Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:17 but to get the flow we'll start at verse 14
2Corinthians 6:14-18 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial (Religion in its many forms, shadows and types)? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple (the kingdom of God within the heart of sanctified man one who has passed through the operation of the Passover meal ie..Last Supper and of the cross with Christ by faith) of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, 'I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people'. (17) 'Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate', saith the Lord, 'and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters', saith the Lord Almighty."

Now this can take us back to the early days of Israel's history as recorded in Numbers 16, Ezra 6:21, 10:11, Psalm 1:1-3, Proverbs 9:6, Isaiah 52:11, Jeremiah 51:6, where Israel was overcome by false idolatry ie...religion and became profane before God. Then Jesus was given as its ie...Israel's salvation but as foretold she would not depart from her Idolatries and became ever increasingly profane. Then in Acts 2:24 and Saul of Tarsus' introduction those who would hear and receive God's call would come out from among them as we've quoted and as revealed in Revelation 18:17 which has to do with those from the time of Jesus' death, burial, resurrection and ascension on. And on into the enigma of the interim between Christ's first visit and His second coming as recorded in Revelation where John was given the Spirit of Prophecy as the witness of Christ in His Glorified and Ascended state. As Hebrews has been portraying Him. When we have passed through the operation of the cross we are then able to bear witness of Christ having come again in the flesh, our flesh by faith to the glory of God and His faithfulness to His Word. The Enemy of God is not only Satan but is all that can be called "Religion". Which is of man through Satan's hidden scheme of deception, and the worlds order of government brotherhood within Religion which deceives and ultimately will destroy the many, the unredeemed nations of the world.

Hebrews 12:18-19
"For ye are not come unto the mount
(that is, Mt. Sinai back there when God was on the mount with thunder and fire and all of that) that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest. And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word not be spoken to them any more:"
In other words, the Law as I’ve said over and over even in the Four Gospel accounts, was what? Severe! The Levitical Law had no room for argument. If someone was taken in adultery, what did the Law demand? Instant death! No trial by jury and 15 years of appeals. The Law was severe. Here, too, when God came down on Mt. Sinai, it wasn’t with love and mercy and grace. It was with power and might and it scared the Israelites to death. Then the warning was, "Don’t even touch the mountain lest you die. Don’t let an animal touch it. If he does you’re to put him to death." So this is what we have to understand. For the spiritual Mount of Zion in heaven is the Mt. of God's presence where we as the sanctified have access to Him even now while we remain on earth.

Now it’s interesting, that in Romans and other areas where Paul writes, that he divides these things into groups of seven. Now there are seven visible things concerning Mt. Sinai, and I’m sure that Paul didn’t sit down and think before he started - I think he probably dictated most of his letters. I don’t think Paul sat down and racked his brain and said, "Now, how can I put up seven points?" Now you know, a lot of preachers make a big deal over a three-point sermon. And that’s all well and good. But my, they’ll spend hours putting together a three-point sermon. I don’t think Paul did that. Paul didn’t have to sit back and say, "Well now, how can I put all this in groups of seven." I don’t think it even entered his mind. But the Scripture says that he, like all other writers of Scripture, were moved by the Holy Spirit. This same pattern is also seen in Revelation and is witness to its Truth.

Here again, this is what I’m always referring to as the intricacy of Scripture. There is again, no man-made book can do it like the Holy Spirit has done with this one. But a word of warning don't get caught-up in the worship of this book as many have done through the spirit of religion which is a powerful force within the unregenerate heart of man. Now here we have seven visible things concerning Mt. Sinai, so let’s look at them. "For you are not come to the mountain." Now everybody knows what a mountain looks like and Mt. Sinai in particular. That it could not be touched and it burned with, what? Fire! Now, when God came down, the flame was up on the top of the mountain. Alright, so there’s two. And they still bear the witness of this event to this day. The heats mark is still visible for those few who have seen them. Now, "nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest." The mountain, the fire, the blackness - and you know some explorers feel that they’ve found the evidence of this on top of a mountain there in Arabia where it had a burnt rocks that are still blackened.

Hebrews 12:19
"And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:"

And as said elsewhere this same thing is again repeated in Revelation. All of these things were outwardly visible and they could hear it and it just made the children of Israel quake. And the voice of words, God spoke - it was scaring them to death (Exodus 20, Deuteronomy 18:16). Now verse 20:
