Here
is the great Priestly Prayer
of
John 17
“These
words spoke Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said,
Father,
the hour is come; glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify
You:
As You have given Him power over
all flesh*, that He should give Eternal Life to as many as You have
given Him. (*Psalm 2:7-9, 22:(27) 26-31,
Daniel 7:(13) 12-14) And this is Life
Eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, Whom You have sent. I
have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You
gave Me to do. And
now, O Father, glorify Me with Your own Self with the glory which I
had with You before the world was. (Gen.
1:26-29, Psalm 8:22-31, Colossians 1:15-17, Philippians 2:(6) 5-8,
9-11, Hebrew 1:3, 10) I have manifested
Your name to the men which You gave Me out of the world: Your's they
were, and You gave them Me; and they have kept Your word.
Now they have known that all things
whatsoever You have given Me are of You.
For I have given to them the words which
You gave Me; and they have received
them,
and
have known surely that I came out from You, and they believe
that You did send Me.
I
pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which You have
given Me; for they are Yours.
And
all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I am glorified in them.
And
now I AM no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come
to You. Holy Father, keep through Your own name those whom You have
given Me, that they may be one, as We.
While
I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name: those that
You gave (here
we could say have given or give to)
Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition;
that the scripture might be fulfilled.
The
disciples in the world
Now
come I to You; and these things I speak in the world, that they might
have My joy fulfilled in themselves.
I
have given them Your word; and the world hates them, because they are
not of the world, even as I AM not of the world.
I
pray not that You should take them out of the world, but that You
should keep them from the evil (while
in the world).
They
are not of the (no longer of this) world, even as I AM not of the world.
Sanctify
them through Your Truth: Your word is Truth.
(Psalm 19:7-9, 119:9, 11, 104, Luke 8:11, 15, John 1:1-5; Acts
15:8-9; Psalm 12:6, 19:7, 119:144, 151-152, Ephesians 4:(21) 20-24,
2Timothy 2:25-26) As
You have sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into
the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also
might be sanctified through the Truth.
Neither
pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe Me
through their word;
That
they all may be one; as You, Father,
are
in
Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in US: that the world may
believe that You have sent Me.
(This can be relabeled “the
secret or mystery of God” in man restored within his heart.)
And
the glory which You gave Me I have given them; that they may be one,
even as We are One:
(Ephesians 2:11-22, 4:(4-6)1-8) I
in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in One; and
that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them,
as You have loved Me.
Father,
I will that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am;
that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: for You loved
Me before the foundation of the world.O righteous Father, the world has not known You: but I have known You, and these have known that You have sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare that the love wherewith You have loved Me may be IN them, and I in them.”
The next group of passages come just after Jesus' Priestly Prayer in John 17. In this passage He speaks of Union and Unity in the indwelling of GOD our True Father. Himself within us in the person of the Spirit of Holiness and Truth. In His last Passover meal with His disciples He tells of identity within Him and He in us. In the eating of His flesh and the drinking of His blood found in John 6:53. To accomplish this requires God doing the circumcision, in the cutting away of the flesh from our calloused and rebellious heart. When this circumcision of the heart cuts away the callousness our vision is restored as is our hearing renewed this giving us a clear perception of Him, the LORD, Father, husband and husbandman and vine into Whom we are the grafted a living branch. This happens by way of our eating figuratively of the His flesh and drinking of His blood in the metaphoric similitude of bread, flesh of the lamb, and water or wine as His blood, in this our new identity realized. In our sharing of His suffering, which the salted water, the bitter herbs and sweet fruit of the Passover symbolize the begin of. This then places us as one in Him, as in a marriage of two. This is also part of the revelation of Genesis 1 and 2. In chapter 3 of Genesis we can see where He was also betrayed and separated from man by man in the deception and rebellion which became in us an evil heart of callousness and all manner of self sufficiency, no longer dependent on God's Spirit*, in the first garden. This when accepted by revelation in the eating of the Passover elements as described and seen in particular the pesach or pasach Lamb, which has the meaning to be limp or to passover, as to bring man back to his rightful place. That being of Genesis 2:7 and later on with Israel while in Egypt, in Exodus 12:11, 14 but this remained veiled to them because of an evil heart of unbelief. We are in the threshold stages of God's kingdom realization with each new generation, where God in Christ, in *Spirit is restored within our soul now revived where He begins the works, in His New Covenant works for our total Salvation. And we work the works of cooperation of faith (in the working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, Philippians 2:12) through love to remain within the kingdom of heaven and God's rule and law,(Jeremiah 31:28-37) in the awaiting of our return to a Genesis 1:26-28, being in the heavenliest kingdom which awaits our return and where we are now seated spiritually at the right hand of power within Christ. (Colossians 2:12-13, 3:1, Galatians 2:19-20, Ephesians 1:17-23, 2:4-9) Hopefully in what was just said we can see and realize the marital relationship of two parties God in Christ and us, man as he was in Genesis 2:7 in each person individually.
