We
are to encounter hardships and expect persecution
this
goes against the grain of many of those trapped by Religion.
If
the world will hate you, you know that it hated me before
it
hated
you.
(when
through the yoke we acquire His character this comes to bear)
If
you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you
are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world,
therefore the world hates you.
Remember
the word that I spoke to you, The servant is not greater than his
lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if
they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also. But all these
things will they do to you for My name's sake, because they know not
Him that sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not
had sin (man
in the age of innocences before Noah's flood, but now have sin):
but now they have no cloak (pretence
or covering)
for their sin.
He
that hates Me hates My Father also.
If
I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they had
not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both Me and My
Father.
(the
signs, wonders or miracles were to teach and reveal GOD in Jesus as
the promised Messiah to Israel, for the purpose of bringing about
change from idolatry and fornication of mans religion, to GOD)
But
this
has not come to pass,
that
the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated
Me* without a cause.*(Psalm
7:4, 35:19, 69:4, 23-29, 31 with
the abolition or abrogation of the Mosaic rites and ceremonies in
verse 31,
by
the once and for all offering of Jesus' own body and blood without
blemish, spot or anyother defect, compared it with
Isaiah 66:3, Psalm109:3, see John 2:17 and 19:28) *they hated Me without a cause; without any reason for it, Christ having given them no provocation, or just cause of offence, anger, or hatred. This sin of hating without a cause, is represented by the Jews as a very heinous one, and as the reason of the destruction of the second temple; under which they observe, that men studied in the law, and in the commandments, and in doing of good; and therefore ask why it was destroyed? the answer is, because there was under it, שנאת חנם, "hatred without a cause": to teach us, that hatred without a cause is equal to the three (capital) transgressions, idolatry, adultery, and murder, for which they say the first temple was destroyed (w). This is a tacit acknowledgment that the sin here mentioned was a reigning one, or that it much abounded in the time of Christ. (w) T. Bab, Yoma, fol. 9. 2. Hieros. Yoma, fol. 38. 3.This is seen and illustrated in the passages refernced which clearly speak of the abominations of sacrifice and practices within them spoken of.
Christ
and our LORD is our Advocate
But
when the Comforter is come, Whom I will send to you from the Father,
the
Spirit of Truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of
Me:
And
you also shall bear witness, because you have been with Me from the
beginning.
Continuing
with Jesus' warning
John
16:1-4, 5-11, 12-15, 16-22, 23-24, 25-28, 29-33 “These
things have I spoken to you, that you should not be offended.
They shall put you out of the
synagogues: yes, the time comes, that whoever kills you will think
that he does God service. (Saul
of Tarsus is here implied as he was a Pharisee's Pharisee a
persecutor of those of the Way in
Acts 8:1, 22:20) And these
things will they do to you, because they have not known the Father,
nor Me. But
these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, you may
remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not to you
at the beginning, because I was with you.
Here
is laid out the workings of the Holy Spirit
But
now I go My way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asks Me, Where
are You going? But
because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your
heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you
that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to
you; but if I depart, I will send Him
to you. And
when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgment:
Of sin, because they believe not
on Me; Of
righteousness, because I go to My Father,
and you see Me no more; Of
judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
(Gen. 3:15, Psalm 68:18, 20-23, Isaiah 49:24-26, Luke 10:18, 19-20,
Romans 16:22, 2Corinthians 4:1-4, Ephesians 2:(2) 1-10, Colossians
2:(15) 13-17 and other such related
passages)
Jesus
identifies the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of all Truth
the
revealer of the Son rebirthed and resurrected within us
through
the cutting away of mans calloused flesh, around the heart.
I
have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
Howbeit when
He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth:
for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear,
shall
He speak: and He will show you things to come.
He
shall glorify
(testify,
to bear witness of)
Me:
for He shall receive of Mine,
and shall show
it
to
you.
All
things that the Father has are Mine: therefore said I, that He shall
take of Mine, and shall show
it
(them)
to
you.
(As Jesus opened the hearts
mind of His disciple's after He first ascension and return and then
that of Saul of Tarsus, Lydia and many others from Acts record on,
He will also do in us.)
