The LORD our Passover

My last post ended with this bold statement, “Every one that is of the Truth hears My voice.” it is this statement which has a limit assigned to it and makes God's New Covenant of Grace in the Face of Christ Jesus a limited kingdom message. Limited because for us as individuals to have the right to enter means we have to have heard His voice and answered in a proper fashion, such as Yes LORD! How is it that we become “of the Truth”? My answer is simple, we have to have passed through the eye of the needle as a vapor of smoke all the while living in our earthy carnal flesh which in the nature of things seems impossible to do. Not taking into account that with God alone all things are possible. (think on John 12:24)

Jesus is sentenced to Die

He dies a martyrs death for the kingdom message that both He and John the Baptist brought.

parallel passages in Matthew 27:15-31, Mark 15:6-20 and Luke 23:13-25
John 18:38-40 "Pilate said to Him, What is truth?* (John 1:14, 16-17, Ps 45:2, Eph. 3:18-19) And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find in Him no fault. But you have a custom, that I should release to you one at the passover: will you therefore that I release to you the King of the Jews? Then cried they all again, saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.”
*in His office, as Mediator; who, as such, was full of "Grace"; the Spirit, and the gifts of the Spirit; of all the blessings of Grace, of justifying, pardoning, adopting, sanctifying, and persevering Grace; of all the promises of Grace; of all Light, Life, strength, Comfort, Peace, and Joy: and also of Truth, of all Gospel Truths; and as He had the Truth, the sum, and substance of all the types and prophecies concerning Him in Him; and as He fulfilled all His own engagements, and His Father's promises; and as possessed of sincerity towards men, and faithfulness and integrity to God, with these ruling within Him, Truth looked Pilate in the face and stood there mute. Saul of Tarsus would see Him as the Law on the road to Damascus later on.

The account of Jesus' Execution

look at Matthew 27:32-44, Mark 15:21-32, Luke 23:26-43

John now in chapter 19 with Jesus being sent for execution in crucifixion on a Roman stake or cross.

John 19:1-7, 8-12, 13-15, 16-22, 23-27 "Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, (Isaiah 49:(7) 6-9, 53:(3)1-12, Hebrews 2:15-18, 5:7-10) and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote Him with their hands. Pilate therefore went forth again, and said to them, Behold, I bring Him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him. Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, Behold the man! When the chief priests therefore and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. Pilate said to them, Take Him, and crucify Him: for I find no fault in Him. The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God."

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; And went again into the judgment hall, and said to Jesus, Where are You from? But Jesus gave him no answer. Then said Pilate to Him, Why do not You speak to me? Do not You know that I have power to crucify You, and have power to release You? Jesus answered, You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above: therefore he that delivered Me to you has the greater sin. And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release Him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's friend: whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.

When Pilate therefore heard this saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. It was the day of preparation for the passover, and about the sixth hour (6AM): and he said to the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him. Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

parallel passages in Matthew 27:37-44, Mark 15:21-32, Luke 23:26-43
Then delivered he Him therefore to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led Him away. And He bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull,(out side the camp) which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified Him, and two other with Him, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle. Pilate wrote a title, and put it nailed on the cross. The writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh (near) to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that He said, I am King of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also His coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout (a symbol of the veil which covered the Holiest of all in the Temple*). They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, They parted My raiment among them, and for My vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple standing by, whom He loved, He said to His mother, Woman, behold your son! Then said He to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home."
