Discovering the Great and Precrious Promises of GOD (to the truly Penitent)

So far we have covered such ground and the most recent has been on mercy and the merciful today we will look at the Penitent ones. And has become my usual habit I will look at Pastor Hoekstra's writing on the New Covenant and also make use of the ESV translation found in my E-Sword program. Notice that occasionally I will use the term of Is-er's in the following for GOD Is and those of His are therefore Is-er's or sons. Isr is Ben and El is GOD you put this together.

"The Promise of a New Covenant"
"Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "when I Will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel . . . I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I Will be their GOD, and they shall be My people . . . they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," says the LORD. "For I Will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I Will remember no more."  (Jeremiah 31:31, 33-34)

"Long ago GOD promised a New Covenant of Grace for His people Israel (Is-er's). "I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel." Some day the Israelites will turn to Messiah as a group and enter into this Promised Covenant of Grace. "And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He Will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My Covenant with them, when I take away their sins" (Romans 11:26-27). This will take place when the Lord Jesus returns to this earth. "And I Will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of Grace and supplication; then they will look on Me Whom they have pierced; they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn" (Zechariah 12:10).

Meanwhile, the Church of the LORD Christ Jesus, comprised of all Hebrews and Gentile believers in Christ, already has the New Covenant instituted for it. "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood" (Luke 22:20).

Note the astounding three-fold provisions this New Covenant offers by faith to all believers today. First, there is the Forgiveness of sins. "For I Will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." Second, there is the opportunity to have an intimate Relationship with GOD. "They all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them." Third, there is the internal working of the LORD GOD Almighty enabling and changing people's lives from the inner core (spirit) of their being. "I Will put My Law in their minds, and write it on their hearts."

The Promise to the Penitent:

Psalm 34:15-18 "The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and His ears toward their cry. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Jeremiah 3:19-23 "'I said, How I would set you among My sons, and give you a pleasant land, a heritage most beautiful of all nations. And I thought you would call Me, My Father, and would not turn from following Me. Surely, as a treacherous wife leaves her husband, so have you been treacherous to Me, O house of Israel, declares the LORD.'" A voice on the bare heights is heard, the weeping and pleading of Israel's sons because they have perverted their way; they have forgotten the LORD their God. "Return, O faithless sons; I will heal your faithlessness." "Behold, we come to You, for You are the LORD our GOD. Truly the hills are a delusion, the orgies on the mountains. Truly in the LORD our GOD is the salvation of Israel (Is-er's).

Joel 2:11, 12-14 "The LORD utters His voice before His army, for His camp is exceedingly great; he who executes His word is powerful. For the day of the LORD is great and very awesome; who can endure it?
"Yet even now," declares the LORD, "return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD your GOD, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast Love; and He relents over disaster. Who knows whether He will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind Him, a grain offering and a drink offering for the LORD your GOD?"

Joel 2:27, 28-29 "You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel (Is-er's), and that I am the LORD your GOD and there is none else. And My people (Is-er's) shall never again be put to shame.
"And it shall (will) come to pass afterward, that I Will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants (slaves) in those days I Will pour out My Spirit."

Micah 7:14-20 "Shepherd Your people with Your staff, the flock of Your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them graze in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old. As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt, I Will show them marvelous things. The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf; they shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their strongholds; they shall turn in dread to the LORD our GOD, and they shall be in fear of you.  Who is a GOD like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old."

Luke 6:20-38 "Jesus lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of GOD.
"Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. "Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
"Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!
Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
"But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.
"Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. "Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.
"Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.
"But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
"If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."

Luke 15:1-2, 3-7 "Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear Him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."

So He told them this parable:
"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance."

Acts 2:36, 37-47 "Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that GOD has made Him both LORD and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the LORD our GOD calls to Himself."
And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation." So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising GOD and having favor with all the people. And the LORD added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

Acts 3: 17-21 "And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what GOD foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that HIS Christ would suffer, He thus fulfilled. Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the LORD, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which GOD spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets long ago."
