Discovering the Great and Precious Promises of GOD (Divine Teacher)

Today I will draw again from the well of living water of Christ my resource for life and food of understanding of Him Whom has promised. By looking at Christ's expounding on the Scriptures. But first Pastor Hoekstra and his teaching on Grace in which and through which we receive the revelation of Christ the LORD. Then on ward by use of the ESV translation and the LORD's help as it is given.

"The Spirit Promised to Glorify Jesus"

"When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth . . . He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you . . . Now we have received . . . the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God." (John 16:13-14 and 1Corinthians 2:12)

"The promised teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit involves His guiding us into all the Truths of the word of GOD. "When He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He Will guide you into all the Truth." As the Spirit is fulfilling this promise, He especially wants to unfold GOD's Truth in ways that will glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He cannot lie as man does and therefore all that He reveals are those things hidden put in plain sight within the context of all scripture. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." The desire of the Holy Spirit is to bring glory and honor, not to Himself, but to the Lord Jesus Christ. "But when the Helper comes, Whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me" (John 15:26).

One of the primary ways the Spirit glorifies Jesus is to reveal to us (and bring into our growing experiential knowledge) the free heavenly riches that are ours when we become One in Christ. "Now we have received . . . the Spirit Who is from GOD, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by GOD." This is the language of Grace: "freely given to us." The wonders of GOD's Grace are given out freely: "being justified freely by His Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus . . . to the praise of the glory of His Grace, which He freely bestowed upon us in the Beloved" (Romans 3:24 and Ephesians 1:6). What man deserves (and has earned by his own sin and offenses) is judgment. However, Christ supplies at His cost (His death for us) the free remedy of Eternal Life. "But the free Gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died (were separated from GOD by the activity of satan's sin then within them and due his punishment as he is to be punished), much more the Grace of GOD (to set man free and at liberty to have communications fellowship and friendship with his Creator as in the beginning) and the Gift by the Grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many . . . For the wages of (satan's) sin is death, but the (free) Gift of GOD is (restored) Eternal Life in Christ Jesus our LORD" (Romans 5:15; 6:23).

These freely given things of Everlasting Life include far more than the precious gift of forgiveness. "He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32). From a river of blessings (including, peace, hope, fruit, gifts, victory, etc.) we are to freely drink throughout time - - and even for all eternity. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts . . . and let him who thirsts come. And whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 21:6; 22:17).

Christ Expound the Scriptures:
Matthew 13:36-43 "Then Jesus left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field." He answered, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the Age, and the reapers are angels. Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire (those within whom satan's sin nature remains receive his punishment due him), so will it be at the end of the (soon coming) Age. The Son of Man will send His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear."

Matthew 24:32-35 (Jesus is speaking) "From the fig tree (Israel restored to it home lands) learn this lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that He is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away."

Mark 4:33-34 "With many such parables He spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to His own disciples He explained everything."

Luke 8:11-15 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of GOD. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. As for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience."

Luke 24:13-27 (this takes place shortly after Christ's resurrection) "That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him. And He said to them, "What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?" Then they stood still, looking sad. One of them, named Cleopas, answered Him, "Are You the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?" And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before GOD and all the people, and how our chief priests and rulers delivered Him up to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. But we had hoped that He was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, and when they did not find His body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that He was Alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but Him they did not see." He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into His Glory?" Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself."
