The Truth that sets Humanity Free from the snare of Legalism as pushed by man's Religion and it's accompaning Religious forms, this being SIN.

 Day 4

I want to do a recap of lead up to this Rest and who it was first offered, to do so look with me at Numbers 14:18-22, 23-24 where we find this to see how Psalm 95:11 describes it afterwards:

But first Caleb: Num 14:6-9  Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spoke to all the company of the children of Israel, saying, "The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the LORD delight in us, then He will bring us into this land, and give it us; A land which flowing with milk and honey. Only rebel not against the LORD, neither fear the people of the land; For they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not."

Now for verse 18-22, 23-24, 30 picking the thought at verse 17:

Num 14:17  Now, Moses is speaking: "I beseech you, let the power of my Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying, "The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation." Pardon, I beseech You, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of Your mercy, and as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. And the LORD said, 'I have pardoned according to your word: But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. Because all those men which have seen My glory, and My miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted Me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to My voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sworn to their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked Me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit within him, and has followed Me fully, to him will I bring into the land where-into he went; And his seed shall possess it.'

Now for verse 30, picking up the flow at verse 28: Num 14:28-31  Say to them, 'As truly as I live, said the LORD, as you have spoken in My ears, so will I do to you: Your car cases shall fall in this wilderness; And all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against Me, doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, which you said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised.

Now back to Hebrews 4, no lets look at Psalm 95:11 beginning at verse 6 first:

Psa 95:6-10, 11  O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For He is our God; And we are the people of His (seed of His) pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To day if we will hear His voice, harden not your heart, as in the provocation (Num. 14), and as in the day of temptation (Exodus) in the wilderness: 'When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My work (John 15:24) Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My ways: To whom I swore in My wrath (H639, From H599; properly [long-] suffering, H599, displeased) that they should not enter into My rest.'

Okay now for Hebrews 4 again:

Heb 4:1-3  Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, if any of you should seem to come short of it. For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it (as shown in Ps. 95:11).  For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, 'As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.'

Now for Hebrews 6:11-12, 15, picking the flow at verse 10:

Heb 6:10  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. For we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope to the end: That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Heb 6:13  For when GOD made promise to Abram, because He could swear by no greater, He swore by Himself, saying, 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.' And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

Now back to the Psalms and Ps. 100 verse 3 beginning at verse 2:

Ps. 100:2  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD He is GOD: it is He that has made us (Gen. 1:26-28, 2:7, 18, 21-24; Lev. 17:11), and not we ourselves; We are His people (Lev. 17:11), and the sheep (H6629, means to migrate) of His pasture (H4830, He tends to our every need, John 6:51, 15:4, 7). Enter His gates (H8179, means its original sense; to split, to opening, Is. 53:5) with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise: be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD God is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations.

Heb 4:11, 6:11-12,15  Let us labor therefore to enter into this rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief....Heb 6:11-12  If I desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises...so, after you have patiently endured, you obtained the promise.

Okay, there are two terms that sound to be of different meanings and purposes but in all actually they work together, they are "patiently endure" and "obtain the promise." Those who actually Believe Jesus acquire spiritual rest, a divine rescue (redemption, the return to our original state of being, ie..GOD'S righteousness our innocence) from the crushing burden if the Law's sin and guilt. There is also another benefit intended the relief from the unbearable load of self-generated Christian living. Our entering this spiritual rest is neither optional nor a casual matter. For is states, be diligent to enter this rest. As it is the LORD Who works within us to Perfect His Will for us. We're to have no sluggishness that leads to spiritual lethargic attitudes. (Rom. 12:11)

Remember that Jesus was taken outside the camp, the camp being the city of Jerusalem as a lamb lead out for slaughter but know that there were two lambs both having once hands (the Priest's) were laid upon its head, having the curses recited, one for crucifixion the other released in the wilderness as a sin offering, in remembrance of Israel's rebellion days.
