Continuing with Our Eternal link to GOD in Christ as exposed by Him, the I AM. Part 5i.9.1b

Okay, we've got to get back to the subject matter of this section which is the words, mercy, mercies and mercifulness of GOD. We first touched on them in sect 9.1 it's time to look a little closer. Within that section we showed a few of Strong's numbers used for the words referenced herein but without much in-depth examination of them. I'll let you do some work in the finding of the verses connected with these terms on your own.

Old Testament Mercy: H2617 is the first one among many, the Strong's shows this: chêsêd   kheh'-sed
From H2616 [châsad   khaw-sad'  A primitive root; properly perhaps to bow (the neck only (compare H2603) in courtesy to an equal), that is, to be kind; also (by euphemism (compare H1288), but rarely) to reprove: - shew self merciful, put to shame.]; kindness; by implication (towards God) piety; rarely (by opprobrium) reproof, or (subjectively) beauty: - favour, good deed (-liness, -ness), kindly, (loving-) kindness, merciful (kindness), mercy, pity, reproach, wicked thing.

H7356 is our next encounter: racham   rakh'-am  From H7355 [râcham   raw-kham'  A primitive root; to fondle; by implication to love, especially to compassionate: - have compassion (on, upon), love, (find, have, obtain, shew) mercy (-iful, on, upon), (have) pity, Ruhamah, X surely.]; compassion (in the plural); by extension the womb (as cherishing the foetus); by implication a maiden: - bowels, compassion, damsel, tender love, (great, tender) mercy, pity, womb.

H3727 is next: kappôreth   kap-po'-reth  From H3722 [kâphar   kaw-far'  A primitive root; to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel: - appease, make (an) atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, to pitch, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile (-liation).]; a lid (used only of the cover of the sacred Ark): - mercy seat.

H3755 is next: râcham   raw-kham'  A primitive root; to fondle; by implication to love, especially to compassionate: - have compassion (on, upon), love, (find, have, obtain, shew) mercy (-iful, on, upon), (have) pity, Ruhamah, X surely.

H2603 comes next: chânan   khaw-nan'  A primitive root (compare H2583); properly to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; causatively to implore (that is, move to favor by petition): - beseech, X fair, (be, find, shew) favour (-able), be (deal, give, grant (gracious (-ly), intreat, (be) merciful, have (shew) mercy (on, upon), have pity upon, pray, make supplication, X very.

In the New Testament we find:

G1653: eleeō   el-eh-eh'-o  From G1656 [eleos   el'-eh-os  Of uncertain affinity; compassion (human or divine, especially active): - (+ tender) mercy.]; to compassionate (by word or deed, specifically by divine grace): - have compassion (pity on), have (obtain, receive, shew) mercy (on).

G1656: shown above.

G3628: oiktirmos   oyk-tir-mos'  From G3627 [oikteirō   oyk-ti'-ro  Also in certain tenses οἰκτερέω oiktereō oyk-ter-eh'-o; from οἰκτος oiktos (pity); to exercise pity: - have compassion on.] ; pity: - mercy.

Next is mercies in the OT: H2617 again its listed above.

H7356 again its listed above.

NT mercies:

G3741: hosios   hos'-ee-os  Of uncertain affinity; properly right (by intrinsic or divine character; thus distinguished from G1342, which refers rather to human statutes and relations; from G2413, which denotes formal consecration; and from G40, which relates to purity from defilement), that is, hallowed (pious, sacred, sure): - holy, mercy, shalt be.

G3628 listed above.

Next is mercifulness:

OT not listed.

NT  again nothing listed. But is used as a measure of character: Saul, 1S. 11:13; David, 1S. 26:9, 2S. 19:22; Solomon, 1K. 1:52, Elisha, 2K. 6:22; Christ, Luke 9:55 and John 8:7

Now I come to the area that I was directed to it's in Luke 15 verse 27 which Jesus stated this: 'Whosoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.' Now for Paul who said this by the Spirit in Romans 8:8-10 beginning at verse 1 through 11: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me (us all) free from the law of sin and death (v21). For what the Law (Mosaic Law) could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, GOD sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned (showed no mercy) sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the (Spiritual) law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; For they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded (Luke 14:27) is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against GOD: for it is not subject to the (Spiritual) law of GOD, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of GOD dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His (Luke 14:27). And if Christ be in you (this based on the conditions that Jesus laid out in Luke 14:27; John 12:25; And Paul in Acts 20:24 and Php. 3:8, and we in Rev. 12:11), the body is dead because of sin; For the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in you."

We are in the New Testament times of Grace and Truth that is operative within us by; Life, Light, and Love, with Mercies new every morning as our aid to help us get through each day as each day has it's own troubles and stumbling blocks while we walk by the Spirit as our Comforter.

Comforter in the OT Strong's is H5126 meaning: nâcham  naw-kham'  A primitive root; properly to sigh, that is, breathe strongly; by implication to be sorry, that is, (in a favorable sense) to pity, console or (reflexively) rue; or (unfavorably) to avenge (oneself): - comfort (self), ease [one’s self], repent (-er, -ing, self).

While in the NT comforter Strong's is G3857 meaning: paraklētos   par-ak'-lay-tos  An intercessor, consoler: - advocate, comforter. To this Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would be our instructor, teacher.

Until our next meeting may the LORD of all Lords bless you with clear and accurate sight and mind renewed.
