Continuing with Our Eternal link to GOD in Christ as exposed by Him, the I AM. Part 5i.9.1c

We have over the last few postings looked at a number of words which in themselves remain a mystery to those who have not done as requested by the Lord Jesus. With this post I shall bring to light another such words as I have been directed to do, this word is "renew" and would you know it is first seen within the context of the OT with the Strong's numbering of H2318 and H2498 and in the NT G340, a word that we have seen before.

Renew of the OT in 1Samuel 11:14 which reads: "Then said Samuel to the people, "Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew (H2318) the kingdom there." (Ps. 51:10, Lam. 5:21)

Strong's H2318: châdash  khaw-dash'  A primitive root; to be new; causatively to rebuild: - renew, repair.

Next is found in Isaiah 41:1 "Keep silence before Me, O Islands; and let the people renew (H2498) their strength: let them come near; Then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment." (Is. 40:14)

Strong's H2498 renew: châlaph  khaw-laf'  A primitive root; properly to slide by, that is, (by implication) to hasten away, pass on, spring up, pierce or change: - abolish, alter change, cut off, go on forward, grow up, be over, pass (away, on, through), renew, sprout, strike through.

Now for the NT in: Hebrews 6:6 "If they shall fall away, to renew (G340) them again to repentance; Seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of GOD afresh, and put Him to an open shame."

Strong's G340 renew: anakainizō  an-ak-ahee-nid'-zo  From G303 [ana  an-ah'  A primary preposition and adverb; properly up; but (by extension) used (distributively) severally, or (locally) at (etc.): - and, apiece, by, each, every (man), in, through. In compounds (as a prefix) it often means (by implication) repetition (as in Gen. 2), intensity, reversal, etc.] and a derivative of G2537 (kainos  kahee-nos'  Of uncertain affinity; new (especially in freshness; while G3501 {neos  neōteros  neh'-os, neh-o'-ter-os
A primary word, including the comparative (second form, the second Adam of 1Cor. 15:22, 45); “new”, that is, (of persons) youthful, or (of things) fresh; figuratively regenerate: - new, young.} is properly so with respect to age): - new.); to restore: - renew.

Now before I proceed I need to look again at Is. 41:1' judgment, H4941 which reads: mishpâṭ  mish-pawt'  From H8199 (shâphaṭ  shaw-fat'  A primitive root; to judge, that is, pronounce sentence (for or against); by implication to vindicate or punish; by extension to govern; passively to litigate (literally or figuratively): -    + avenge, X that condemn, contend, defend, execute (judgment), (be a) judge (-ment), X needs, plead, reason, rule.); properly a verdict (favorable or unfavorable) pronounced judicially, especially a sentence or formal decree (human or (particularly) divine law, individual or collectively), including the act, the place, the suit, the crime, and the penalty; abstractly justice, including a particular right, or privilege (statutory or customary), or even a style: -  + adversary, ceremony, charge, X crime, custom, desert, determination, discretion, disposing, due, fashion, form, to be judged, judgment, just (-ice, -ly), (manner of) law (-ful), manner, measure, (due) order, ordinance, right, sentence, usest, X worthy, + wrong.

Now for the NT renewing Strong's G342 found in Romans 12:2 and Titus 3:5; Romans 12:2 states this: "Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing (G342) of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Strong's G342: anakainōsis  an-ak-ah'ee-no-sis  From G341 (anakainoō  an-ak-ahee-no'-o  From G303 [ana  an-ah'  A primary preposition and adverb; properly up; but (by extension) used (distributively) severally, or (locally) at (etc.): - and, apiece, by, each, every (man), in, through. In compounds (as a prefix) it often means (by implication) repetition, intensity, reversal, etc.] and a derivative of G2537 {kainos  kahee-nos'  Of uncertain affinity; new (especially in freshness; while G3501 (seen above) is properly so with respect to age): - new.}; to renovate: - renew.); renovation: - renewing.

Now lets see what Paul wrote to Titus in chapter 3 beginning with verse 3 within which we are interested in verses 5 and 6 on through 11 to get the complete thought. "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of GOD our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness (G1343) which we have done, but according to His mercy (G1656) He saved us, by the washing of regeneration (G3824), and renewing (G342) of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by His (in the person of the Holy Spirit, the living waters of) we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that you affirm constantly, that they which have believed GOD might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the Law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sins, being condemned of himself."

Now I apologize if I have muddy your waters just a bit. There remains other passages that bear witness to this, I'll let you do your own research in digging them up. I want to leave you with this in 1Peter 1:3 tied to John 11:25-26. As food for thought.
