Yesterday we started looking at the term Tempted or temptation as GOD uses it for our good and training to develop obedience and true Love of the Life and Light giving Word, which is in actuality Spirit. When it is eaten and drunk by the restored spirit of mans being having been changed from being separated from to unity with GOD through the resurrected Christ within each one of us.
Tempt:
The Bruising of the serpents head:
Romans 16:17-20 "I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine (teaching and training) that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our LORD Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to (against) what is evil. The GOD of Peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The Grace of our LORD Christ Jesus be within you."
Provision for a Way of Escape: 1Corinthians 10:6-13, 14 "Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. (the writer had just covered Israel's mistakes) Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play." We must not indulge in sexual immorality (while they worshiped the golden calf and preformed all manor of lewdness) as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the Ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. GOD is faithful, and HE will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation HE will also provide the Way of Escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."
Christ to Succor in the Trying Hour:
Hebrews 2:10-13, 14-18 "For it was fitting that HE, for Whom and by Whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For HE Who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why HE is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, "I will tell of your name to My brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise." And again, "I will put My trust in HIM." And again, "Behold, I and the children GOD has given Me."
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, HE Himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death HE might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that He helps, but He helps the offspring of Abraham.(those who come to faith as Abram did before his name change which indicates his righteousness of faith, as promised) Therefore He had to be made like His brothers in every respect, so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in the service of GOD, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because HE Himself has suffered when tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted."
The Final Victory:
James 4:1-10, 11-12 "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with GOD? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of GOD. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that HE has made to dwell in us"? But HE gives more Grace. Therefore it says, "GOD opposes the proud, but gives Grace to the humble." Submit yourselves therefore to GOD. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to GOD, and HE will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. (in other words Repent) Humble yourselves before the LORD, and He will exalt you.
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law (Christ being this law and He resides within HIS own). But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, He who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?"
1John 4:1-14, 15, 16-21 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from GOD, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of GOD: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from GOD, and every spirit that does not confess Christ Jesus is not from GOD. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from GOD and have overcome them, for HE Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from GOD. Whoever Knows GOD listens to us; whoever is not from GOD does not listen to us. By this we Know the Spirit of Truth. From the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another, for (pure) Love is from GOD, and whoever loves has been born of GOD and Knows GOD. Anyone who does not love does not know GOD, because GOD is (pure) Love. In this the love of GOD was made manifest among us, that GOD sent HIS only Son into the world, so that we might (be given true Life and) live through Him. In this is love, not that we have love GOD but that HE loves us and sent HIS Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if GOD so Loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen GOD; if we love one another, GOD abides in us and HIS Love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify (bear witness, the fruit of His Spirit) that the Father has sent HIS Son to be the Savior of the world.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of GOD, GOD abides in him, and he in GOD.
So we have come to Know and to believe the Love that GOD has for us. GOD is Love, and whoever abides in love abides in GOD, and GOD abides in him. By this HIS Love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as HE is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect Love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in (by) Love. We love because HE first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love GOD Whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from HIM: whoever loves GOD must also love his brother."
Revelation 3:7, 8-12, 13 "To the angel (spiritual messenger, pastor) of the church in Philadelphia write: 'The words of the Holy One, the true One, Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one will shut, Who shuts and no one opens.
"'I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.
Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you. Because you have kept My word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. The one who conquers (overcomes all obstacles of the flesh and worldly pressures), I will make him a pillar in the Temple of My GOD. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of My GOD, and the name of the city of My GOD, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from My GOD out of heaven, and My own new name.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'"
Enthronement with Christ:
Revelation 3:14, 15-21, 22 "To the angel (spiritual messenger, pastor) of the church in Laodicea write:
'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of GOD's creation.'
'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may (truly) see. Those whom I love, I Reprove and Discipline, so be zealous and Repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me. The one who conquers (overcomes), I will grant him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also conquered and sat down with My Father on HIS throne.
