The saga of "The Secret of GOD", part 7.12 the renewed mind.

We are now at John chapter 7, where we find the feast of tabernacles or booths which all lead to, and are meant to speak of the human body being the place of the kingdom and spiritual worship. Even while Israel wondered in rebellion in the wilderness of sin for forty years complaining and murmuring at every turn. So to begin with I will look at the feast of tabernacles or booths using my KJV+ for the Strong's Greek words numbering system and the Tharyer's Word Dictionary based on its numbers for their definitions. The secret of this one particular feast was that it was to be a joyous occasion where both Jew and Gentile shared in the celebration.

Feast: is my first word G1859 meaning: Hebrew ἑορτή, Greek heortē;
Thayer Definition: a feast day, festival Part of Speech: noun feminine.

Tabernacles: G4634 meaning: Hebrew σκηνοπηγία, Greek skēnopēgia;
Thayer Definition: the construction of a tabernacle or tabernacles, the feast of tabernacles; this festival was observed by the Jews yearly for seven days, beginning with the 15th of the month Tisri
Part of Speech: noun feminine; A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from G4636 and G4078
G4636 meaning: Hebrew σκῆνος, Greek skēnos;
Thayer Definition: a tabernacle, a tent, metaphorically of the human body, in which the soul dwells as in a tent, and which is taken down at death
Part of Speech: noun neuter; A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from G4633
G4633 meaning: Hebrew σκηνή, Greek skēnē;
Thayer Definition: tent, tabernacle, (made of green boughs, or skins or other materials), of that well known movable temple of God after the pattern of which the temple at Jerusalem was built
Part of Speech: noun feminine; A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: apparently akin to G4632 and G4639 (we can see how this word is built upon many others as the Strong nubers here indicate.) Back to our first contact of G4078 as the base of G4634.

G4078 meaning: Hebrew πήγνυμι, Greek pēgnumi;
Thayer Definition: to make fast, to fix; to fasten together, to build by fastening together
Part of Speech: verb; A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: a prolonged form of a primary verb (which in its simpler form occurs only as an alternate in certain tenses)

Here is the bases of all other uses that we have seen within this study employed by the author of the "Mirror Study Bible," much of which I have also used over the years of this blog. Okay, now for chapter 7.

John 7:1-9 "After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. His brethren therefore said unto him, "Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world." For neither did his brethren believe in him. Then Jesus said unto them, 'My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.' When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee." (KJV)

John 7:1-9 "After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him. Now the Jews' Feast of Booths was at hand. So his brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world." For not even his brothers believed in him. Jesus said to them, 'My time has not yet come, but your time is always here. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil. You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.' After saying this, he remained in Galilee." (ESV)

John 7:1-9 "Jesus concentrated most of his ministry activity in Galilee since the Jewish leaders in Judea wanted to kill him. This was now about six months later when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. His own Friends prompted him to go to Judea so that his followers there might again have the opportunity to witness his signs and teaching, or so they reasoned. They figured that someone of his public importance and stature should not operate in secret! He should show himself off to the world and make a name for himself! Yet none of his immediate family believed that he really was the Christ. (It was only after his resurrection when Jesus also appeared to James that his brother's eyes were opened, 1Corinthians 15:7, Galatians 1:19. This prompted James to write about seeing the face of our birth when we hear the authority of the authentic word of our co-begotteness by the Father of lights. In James 1:17, 23) Jesus replied, 'My [1]agenda is different from yours! You go ahead and feast with your Jewish friends! ([1]kairos, a fixed and definite time, the decisive epoch waited for,) It is me they hate not you! My testimony exposes their religious rituals and works of self-righteousness as [1]incompetent. (The word often translated evil, [1]poneros, suggests, to be full of labors annoyances and hardships! This word is associated with the system of works for righteousness versus faith righteousness.) You go ahead to the feast - I will go when its my time!' So his family went to Jerusalem and left him behind in Galilee." (The Mirror)

From here we see more of what took place during this feast in our next post, the LORD willing.
