The saga of "The Secret of GOD", as shown in 1Corinthians 14:26; the renewed mind and our victory as foretold.

As we have discovered there is a lot of food for thought within these often overlooked passages of the Corinthian letters. But hold on to your seats there is more ahead, especially from a renewed mind set that the LORD brought about when our spiritual eyes and ears were pierced, causing them to be opened. I was going to break this up into two posts but after rethinking I will include them herein.

1Corithians 14:26-33 "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." (KJV)

1Corithians 14:26-33 "What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints." (ESV)

1Corinthians 14:26-33 "I would encourage you to conduct your meetings in such a way that everyone is mutually edified. Each one in turn may contribute in music, in a teaching; anothers may bring a tongue with its revelation and interpretation. I want to be very clear on this issue of tongues and its practice in assemblies: if someone insists on speaking in tongues; keep it short, let it be only two or at most three in turn, definitely not all three at the same time, and let one interpret what was said. If there is no interpretation, let the one who wants to talk in tongues rather be quiet; he can have his own private conversation with GOD when he is alone. Let only two or three Prophets speak while the others weigh what is said. If another picks up on something that is not consistent with the revelation of the gospel, he should bring the conversation back to order while the first person is silent. (Which is exactly what I have done with verses 34-38. I do not consider them legitimate Scripture from Paul. As it is the custom of the old style of assembly of the Jews and other, shall I say religions.) The two or three people prophesying should take turns to speak; if more than one speaks at the same time the objective is lost and no one can gain any insight or encouragement from the Prophet. Confusion is not of GOD; peace and harmony sets the pace in all the churches of the Saints." (The Mirror)

1Corinthians 14:34-36, 37-38, 39-40 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the Law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order." (KJV)

1Corinthians 14:34-36, 37-38, 39-40 "The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached?

If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order." (ESV)

1Corinthians 14:34-35, 36-38, 39-40 "(Women should shut up in church; they should know their place of submission just as they are taught in the Law! If they need to know anything their husbands can instruct them at home; church is certainly not a place where women should voice their opinion; they also do not qualify to operate in any of the [spiritual] gifts of the Spirit!

Hee hee hee! This sounds like a grumpy old church father voicing his opinion!

This is certainly not consistent with Paul's revelation that in Christ there is neither male nor female! [look at 2Corinthians 5:14-16, Galatians 3:28, and also 1Corinthians 11:3-17])

36-38 (Now to add insult to injury, the same author of the previous verses lashes out against anyone who would not share his sentiment concerning women.)

39-40 "To conclude the tongues and prophecy debate; encourage prophecy with greater enthusiasm than tongues. However do not forbid tongues altogether, but let it all happen with discretion and dignity!" (The Mirror)

In our next visit we shall, the LORD willing get back to the gospel message. Now may the LORD give you and yours the wonder of his light.
