Paul, just expressed our heavenly goal, our spiritual realm as being one in GOD or as stated in Romans 8:9-11 (ESV): "You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ, does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you (by way of revelation), although the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit (Spirit en spirit are One) who dwells in you." This by now should have new meaning and purpose for us. Look at Enoch, walked with GOD, the seventh from Adam, and then Elijah, he it is said walked with GOD and father Abram-Abraham (means a man of grace) called our from among them, and his son of promise Isaac, more food for thought. Now moving into Paul's statement in prayer. I might note that this prayer has the same impact today as did when it was first used by Paul, now beginning at verse 9, before he expresses Christ's Preeminence.
Colossians 1:9-14 "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding[1]; That ye might walk[2] worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious[3] power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints[4] in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." (KJV)

Colossians 1:8-14 "He told us how much you love us in the spirit; and so we have become inseparably linked to you. Our constant desire for you is that you might be overwhelmed with the knowledge of GOD'S dream for your lives. We pray that the pattern of his wisdom and thoughts will fall into place for you in all [1]spiritual understanding. (The word, [1, G4907 from G4920 ] sunesis, a mental putting together, is from (G4920 from G4862, union) suniemi, meaning: a joining together like that of two streams; a fusion of thought, a joint-seeing. Having a clear eye of perception. [Matthew 5:29, 6:22-23, 7:3-5, Luke 11:34]) Go on a [2]walkabout tour to explore the extent of the land that is yours under his Lordship. Now you can conduct yourselves appropriately towards him, pleasing him in every harvest of good works that you'll bear. Meanwhile, you continue to increase in your intimate acquaintance with that which GOD knows to be true about you. This results in the most attractive and fulfilling life possible. (The word, [2, G4043 from G4012 and G3961 ] peripateo, means: to tread, to walk about everywhere. The knowledge of GOD is not our perception of him, but his knowledge of us; to know even as we have always been known. [Jeremiah 1:5, 1Corinthians 13:12]) You are empowered in the dynamics of GOD'S strength; [3]his mind is made up about you! he enables us to be strong in endurance and steadfastness with his joy. (His glorious power, or [3, G1391 from the base of G1380] doxa, glorious, comes from (G1380) dokeo, to recognize for what it really is, true opinion; GOD'S intention--his mind made up! ) We are grateful to the Father of spirits who qualified us to participate in the complete portion of the inheritance of the [4]saints of the light. (The light of the Gospel reveals what GOD accomplished to transition us by transformation from sinner to a saint; the word is from hagos, an awful thing to [4, G40, H2282] hagios, a consecrated object: "call no-one unholy or unclean." [Acts 10:28]) He rescued (exonerated) us from the [5]dominion of darkness (the sense-ruled world, dominated by the Law of performance) and relocated us in the kingdom where the agape of his Son rules. (Darkness is not a force, it is absence of light. [look at Ephesians 4:18] A darkened understanding (is to have no understanding) veiled from the truth of our redeemed design held back from us. 2Corinthians 4:4, (The Mirror) "What "empowered" (past tense) darkness was the original lie that we believed about ourselves!" The word, [5, G1849 from G1832, exesti, it is right, I exist, is the third person singular present indicative of a compound of G1537 and G1510 ] exousia, is sometimes translated authority, is from (G1537) ek, origin or source, and (G1510) eimi, I am. Thus, I was confused about who I am until the day that I heard and fully understood the grace of GOD in fullness of Truth, as in a mirror. Look at 2Corinthians 3:18, and John 1:12 in the Mirror translation.) In GOD'S mind humanity is associated in Christ; in his blood sacrifice we are ransomed (exonerated, redeemed); our redemption is secured; our [6]sins were completely done away with. (The word sin, is the word [6, G266 is from G264 from G1 with the base of G3313 ] hamartia, is from (G1) ha, meaning a negative or to be without and (G3313) meros, a portion of form, thus to be without our allotted portion or without form, pointing to a disorientated distorted, bankrupt identity or mindset; the word meros, is the stem of morphe, as in 2Corithinas 3:18 (The Mirror) where the word (G3339 is from G3326+G3445) meta-morphe, with form, is the opposite of hamartia - without form. Sin is to live out of context with the original blueprint of our design; to behave out of tune with GOD'S original harmony (as witnessed in Genesis 2) Look at Deuteronomy 32:18, "You have forgotten the Rock that begot you and have gotten out of step with GOD who danced with you!" Hebrew, (H2342 ) chûl chı̂yl, khul or khool, kheel, means to dance. Sin distorts the life of our origin and design. Jesus reveals and redeemed (exonerated our true form.) (The Mirror)
As I stated in the beginning of Colossians we are now on higher ground than we have been before. Now may the LORD bless you and yours with the light of understanding the mystery of the Cross and Christ in us. As our daily bread and required breath for life.
