Paul, in this letter removes the veil of religious zeal that hindered Jesus' opposition party, who did not know or see him as the promised one of Deuteronomy 18:15-19 (15, 18) and Daniel 9:24-27 (25); John 4:23-26. In the first chapter, we shall hear the final word of GOD about his Son, the supremacy of Christ.
Hebrews 1:1-4 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past[1] unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."(KJV)
Hebrews 1:1-4 "Long ago, at many times and in many ways[1], God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs." (ESV)
Hebrews 1:1-4 "Throughout [1]ancient times GOD spoke in many fragments and glimpses of prophetic thought to our fathers. Now, this entire conversation has [2]finally dawned in sonship. Suddenly what seemed to be an ancient language falls fresh and new like the morning dew on the tender grass of our lives! He is the sum total of every utterance of GOD. He is he whom the Prophets pointed to and we are his immediate objects of his attention and his audience. (The word, [1, G3819 from G3825] palai, means, of old, ancient; comes from (G3825) palin through the idea of oscillatory repetition or retrocession; anew, afresh. Look at Deuteronomy 32:1-2, 18 "Give ear, Oh heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the thunder of the words of my mouth. May my teaching drop as the rain (grace), my speech distilled as the morning dew, as the gentle rain (grace) upon tender grass (humanity), and as the showers upon the herb....You were unmindful of the Rock (salvation) that begot you, and you forgot the GOD who gave you birth." Look at James 1:24, "we have forgotten what manner of people we are ---we have forgotten the face of our birth!" Jesus successfully rescued the real you, not the pseudo, make-belief you! GOD has never believed less of us than what he was able to communicate in the sonship that Jesus mirrored and redeemed!
The word, [2] eschatos, means extreme; last time or in space; the uttermost part, the final conclusion. What GOD said about 'you-manity' in Jesus defines eschatology!) In sonship, GOD declared the Incarnate Word to be the heir of all things. He is, after all, the author of the ages. we have our beginning and our being in him. (Sonship endorses heirship! look at Hebrews 6:16-18) Jesus is the crescendo of GOD'S conversation; he gives context and content to the authentic thought. Everything that GOD had in mind for mankind is voiced in him. Jesus is GOD'S eternal spiritual language. He is the radiant and flawless expression of the person and [1]intent of GOD. He mirrors GOD'S [2]character and exhibits his every attribute in human form. He is the voice of GOD announcing our redeemed innocence. By his own doing he accomplished purification of sins and sat down, enthroned in the boundless measure of his majesty in the right and of GOD, as the executive authority in the universe. This voice is the dynamic that sustains the entire cosmos. he is the force of the universe upholding everything that exists. ("Having accomplished purification of sins, he sat down..."His Throne is the very authority and proof of humanity's redeemed innocence!
More then two thousand years ago the conversation that had begun before time was recorded---sustained in fragments of thought throughout the ages, whispered in prophetic language, chiseled in stone and inscribed in human conscience and memory---became a man. Beyond the tablet of stone, the papyrus scroll or parchment roll, human life has become the articulate voice of GOD. Jesus is the crescendo of GOD'S conversation with humankind; he gives context and content to the authentic thought. Everything that GOD had in mind for man is voiced in him. Jesus is GOD'S language. His name declares his mission. As Savior of the world he truly redeemed the image (mirror) and likeness of the invisible GOD and made him apparent again in human form as in a mirror.
The word, [1, G1319 from G1380] doxa, is from (G1380) dokeo, meaning opinion or intent defines the glory of GOD, that which was lost by Adam's action. The word, [2, G5481 from G5482] charakter, is from (G5482) charax -- to engrave - translated 'mark of the beast' in the book of Revelation. Either the character of the Father or the character of the fallen mind will influence our actions (hand) and choices, because it is what engages our thoughts (forehead).
Like is Isaiah 55:8-11, "Your thoughts are not my thoughts; therefore your ways are not my ways....but my word will incarnate, and saturate earth (flesh) just like the rain (grace) and the snow cancel the distance between heaven and earth (flesh), so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth! It shall not return void but it will prosper in my purpose!") No prophetic or Shepherd-Messenger can compete with him in rank or name. This is his rightful portion. (Psalm 2) (Whatever the medium was through which GOD spoke of old, whether Angelic or prophetic--recorded Scripture is not superior to revealed sonship!)
