Ephesians Lesson 31 of 39 part 7

1Corinthians 3:16
"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
It is that same Spirit that he admonishes us in Ephesians that we are not to grieve. It is this same Spirit that causes our bodies to function or to have life. Without He we are just a lump of flesh at birth, His Spirit causes our blood to function properly and to flow within us. For without Him we can not function or have our being, this is why sin against God is so grievous, we actually are His temple on earth. In other words we should know without a shadow of doubt what is pleasing to the Spirit, and that is what we are supposed to be prone to do, that which is pleasing to Him. We are to know God in a personal way just as Jesus did as the spirit within Him Whom He could depend on in every circumstance and situation of life, because life is new every morning of our existence. God's Spirit is everywhere because God is Spirit and He expresses His character and nature in Life, Love, Truth and Grace. Come on over to 1Corinthians chapter 6, and we have another reference from the pen of the apostle regarding the indwelling Holy Spirit.

1Corinthians 6:19a
"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,..."
The Holy Spirit was given the very moment of our conception while still an embryo, but become more alive within the moment we believed this Gospel, and then Paul concludes that our body does not belong to us now, but rather Christ. Why Christ? Because He is the Word from Genesis 1:1 on through the rest of the Bible though hidden from mans understanding, NOT his view. The desired change happens when we know about and then accept our Redemption by Blood or death of Him Who is Life and Light, Christ Jesus. This happens when we by way of illumination of the Lord's Supper through the teaching we receive of Him, the Holy Spirit. When we reach the crisis, of our first estate of death and accept His demands before passing through the gate into the second blessing. This blessing is the return to us of God's kingdom alive and Living within us as Adam had had in Genesis 2:7. We are raised in resurrection power to become the temple of God's essence restored and now dwelling in us, again.

1Corinthians 6:19b
"...and ye are not your own?"
Peter uses the same kind of language with regard to the blood of Christ.

1Peter 1:18a-19a
"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,... But with the precious blood of Christ,..."
We are reminded that since we have been bought with the blood of Christ, we are to respond by glorifying God in our body. we have become a living sacrifice to Him, renewed every morning (Romans 12:1-5; Deuteronomy 6:4-6) Now on the way back to Ephesians chapter 4, you can stop in chapter 1, and these references hopefully all fit together, that this is the same Spirit we are to be careful not to grieve. And that happens only when we go contrary to the revealed Word (Will, Law) of God. We start out by speaking of Christ in verse 12.

Ephesians 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the (this) gospel of your salvation: in whom (speaking of Christ) also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise."
See how the Holy Spirit functions in the life of the believer? He indwells us, He motivates us, He directs us, He keeps us, He teaches us and now another verse just comes to mind in the book of Romans chapter 7.
