Thessalonians part 62

The before spoken of actions all merit punishment, as seen in Proverbs 19:5, 9 beginning at verse 1 through the end of verse 11 where we find this: “Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, the soul without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasten [ie...to press in] with his feet sins. The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD. Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbor. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape. Many will intreat the favor of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that gives gifts. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they are wanting to him. He that gets wisdom loves his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish. Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes. The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”

Next is the punishment for the above listed things found, first as specified in Leviticus 6 under the terms of guilt or trespass in verses 1 through 7: “The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lies to his neighbor in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or has deceived his neighbor; Or has found that which was lost, and lies concerning it, and swears falsely; in any of all these that a man does, sin therein: Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, Or all that about which he has sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it to him to whom it appertains, in the day of his trespass offering. And he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest: And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he has done in trespassing therein.”

Here is the description of the punishment as found in Deuteronomy 19 beginning at verse 15 and my main focus is verses 16-20 but I'll go through the end of verse 21 where this is stated: “One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother; Then shall you do to him, as he had thought to have done to his brother: so shall you put the evil away from among you. And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. And your eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.” (look also at Deu. 22:1-4 then turn to Heb. 5-6 for more insight.)

Next is the visualization of falsehood as seen in Zechariah 5 beginning at verse 1 through the end of verse 4 where we find this: “Then I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. And he said to me, What see you? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. Then said he to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it. I will bring it forth, said the LORD of Hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof. Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said to me, Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that goes forth.”

Having shared all the above I now turn my attention toward a continuation of false confidence and the trusting in the strength of man by ignoring GOD'S providence.
