The LORD our Passover

Continuing the indexing list of May 2.

The following is an exultation for the afflicted:

Isaiah 61:1-3 (2) “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.”

We are still in my comment area and are about to entry into Jesus' public ministry as recorded by Luke in chapter 4 picking it up at verse 14 with our targeted verse being 19 and I will continue with the flow until verse 32. This takes place just after His wilderness experience and upon His return and enters a synagogue as was His custom and the scroll of the book of Isaiah is given to Him and He reads. This passage of scripture is loaded with all kinds of meaning and revelation of Christ.
Luke 4:14-15, 16-29, 30-32 “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of Him through all the region round about. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. There was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Esaias (Isaiah). And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written, “The Spirit (Ps. 45:7, Isa. 11:2-5, 42:1-4, 50:4, 59:21) of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed (Ps. 2:2, 6, Dan. 9:24, Acts 4:27, 10:38) me to preach (Isa. 29:19, Zep. 3:12, Zec. 11:11, Jam. 2:5) the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal (2Chron. 34:27, Ps. 34:18, 51:17, 147:3, Isa. 57:15, 66:2, Eze. 9:4) the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance (Ps. 102:20, 107:10-16, 146:7, Isa. 42:7, 45:13, 49:9, 24-25, 52:2-3, Zec. 9:11-12, Col. 1:13) to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind (Ps. 146:8, Isa. 29:18-19, 32:3, 5, 42:16-18, 60:1-2, Mal. 4:2, Acts 26:18, Eph. 5:8-14, 1Thes. 5:5-6) , to set at liberty them that are bruised (Gen. 3:15, Isa. 42:3, Mat. 12:20), to preach the acceptable year (Luke 19:42, Lev. 25:8-13, 50-54, Num. 36:4, Isa. 61:2, 63:4, 2Cor. 6:1) of the Lord.” And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him. And He began to say to them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. (Luke 10:23-24, Mat. 13:14, John 4:25-26, 5:39, Acts 2:16-18, 29-33, 3:18) And all bare Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? He said to them, You will surely say to Me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in our country. And He said, Verily I say to you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But to none of them was Elias sent, save to Sarepta, a city of Sidon, to a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong.

But He passing through the midst of them went His way, and came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. And they were astonished at His doctrine: for His word was with power.”

My next reference is in 2Corinthians 6 verse 2 but to pick up the flow I will start at 5 verse 16 on through 6 verse 10.

2Corinthians 5:16-19, 20-6:10 “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yes, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more. Therefore if any man be In Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself by (through) Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was In Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their (our) trespasses to them (us); and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech us: we pray In Christ's stead, be reconciled to God. For He has made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God In Him. We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you also that you receive not the Grace of God in vain.(John 1:14. 16-17) (For He said, I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored (helped) you: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Giving no offense in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, by the word of Truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.”
