The LORD our Passover

Continuing with the indexing for May 7

Then moving past our subject passages into the New Covenant we find this in James and John's Revelation of Christ. What I find of interest in James is the fact that he through the Holy Spirit begins with the external use of mans unruly tongue.

James 3:1-12, 13-18 “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, wherever the governor listes. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts of great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Does a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”

The last one as I said is found in Revelation chapter 6, 6 being the number assigned to man, and perhaps the sixth seal is mans seal, also because in it we find the fig mentioned. I will pick things up with the fifth seal in verse 9 where we find this; “When He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Then in verses 12 through 7:3 we find this; “I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? After these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”

In each passage are mentioned the servants of God, these were the first to be invite to the marriage feast but each found a excuse for not attending the feast, as the Lord's parable states. The king then commissions His servants to go into the uttermost parts of the world to bring others to His feast. This is what the fig-tree parable reveals as do those passages of scripture shown here.

I am still in John 12 heading toward 13, He that loves his life (in mans sin and death estate of separation from GOD) shall lose it; and he that hates* (more than he loves Me is here implied) his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal.” (the root of the promise of Gen. 3:15 and 12:1-3, Isaiah 7:14, Jeremiah 31:22, Matthew 1:23, 25) Look at Gen. 3:15 because it is the bases of all things about to become New in re-birth or a re-genesis as being born from above, in the power of the resurrection.

Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity* (hostility, hatred) between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it (He) shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

Genesis 12:3 “I will bless them that bless (pay by bending the knee as in to drink in water that is flowing at a stream or rivers edge, to offer a gift with an open palm of the hand) you, and curse him that curses you (those who act contrary to good, truth and trust): and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
