The LORD our Passover

Continuing the indexing for May 9th

Next chapter 2 and verse 20 picking up the flow with Paul's correcting Peter for his error in character at verse 14: “When I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of our Gospel, I said to Peter before them all, If you, being a Jew, live after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? If we who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we who have believed Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the Law: for by (through) the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For I through the Law am dead to the Law, that I might live to God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I Live; yet not I, but Christ Lives in me: and the Life which I now live in the flesh I Live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loves me, and gave Himself for me. I do not frustrate the Grace of God: for if righteousness could have come by the Law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

Then the next one is in chapter 4 beginning at verse 1 through 7: “Now I say, the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the Father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the Law, to redeem them that were under the law (and the Law of Moses is referenced many times with the capital “L” which distinguishes it from the law of God, however our translators abused their privilege by using the lower case where the capital should have been applied which is grievous error), that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because we are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore you are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Israel if you will remember were servants but when Jesus came He called a few of them His friend or friends these can be seen in Luke 12:4, John 15:14-15, Isaiah 41:8 and James 2:23. If we have become His friend then are we His heirs (Psalm 2:6-8). From this we can deduce that all others are but those who have been give the right or power to become but may remain as servants and children in waiting.

Next is Ephesians 4:13, starting at verse 7 through 16 we find this: “But to every one of us is given Grace according to the measure of the Gift of Christ. Wherefore He said, When He ascended up on high, when He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we should henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, Christ: From Whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body to the edifying of itself in love.”
