The saga of "The Secret of GOD", part 13 the renewed mind.

In John 13 we find the Lord's Supper, the Passover feast day meal, with a ceremonial washing of the worlds dust from the disciples feet and then He gets into His death's betrayal. These things were triggers by the visit of the Gentiles who were out looking for Him, in chapter 12. Each action is a deliberate action on the Lord Jesus' part. In other words all is progressive revelation of His mission statement as given to Him by GOD, the Father of spirits. (as seen in Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7)

John 13:1-11 "Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, "Lord, dost thou wash my feet?" Jesus answered and said unto him, 'What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.' Peter saith unto him, "Thou shalt never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, 'If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.' Simon Peter saith unto him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." Jesus saith to him, 'He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.' For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, 'Ye are not all clean.'" (KJV)

John 13:1-11 "Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?" Jesus answered him, 'What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.' Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, 'If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.2' Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!" Jesus said to him, 'The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.' For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, 'Not all of you are clean.'" (ESV)

John 13:1-11 "Now Jesus having known, before the feast of the Passover, that this was his hour; he knew very well that he would step out of this world into his Father's embrace. [pros - face to face] He drew much love-energy from his own who would remain still in the world after his departure; He loved them completely. It was supper time and the [1]diabolos already had the heart of Judas Iscariot in sync with his own, which was to betray Jesus. (During supper - deipnou ginomenou, which is the correct text, present middle Participle of ginomai - [not genomenou, second Aorist middle Participle, "being ended"] The [1]devil, dia because of and ballo, cast down; because of the fall; referring to the fallen mindset of humanity lost,- the one that will be crushed by the seed of woman - put into the heart of Judas, 'ballo eis kardia'.....thus Judas' heart was in sync with the fallen mindset.)
Jesus was fully aware of this fact that his Father has given all things into his hands; he knew that he came from GOD and that his destiny was to return face to face with GOD. (As the incarnate word he knew that he is the exhibit of the thoughts of GOD in human form; he knew that he fulfilled what Isaiah (in 55:10) was when he spoke about the thoughts of GOD that would come down from heaven like rain and snow to saturate the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread for food, before it returned again to heaven. "So shall my word be, that proceeds from my mouth, it shall not return to me empty but proper in my purpose!" He was come to mirror GOD's mind towards humanity.) So he got up from the table and took off his outer garments and wrapped a towel around himself. He then poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of his disciples and dried them with the towel around his waist. When he came to Simon Peter, he protested saying, "Lord do you want to wash my feet?" Jesus answered, 'You might not appreciate it now but afterwards you will understand the significance of what I am doing.' Peter refused and said, "I will never allow you to wash my feet!" And Jesus replied, 'If I do not wash you then you have no participation with me.' Then Peter said, "Lord, not only my feet but also my hands and head!" But Jesus answered, 'He that has already taken a bath only needs to wash his feet for he is completely clean. And you are already clean, yet not everone of you.' For Jesus knew who would betray him - that is why he said, 'you are not all equally clean.' (Not all of you have given the word the same opportunity to wash your minds! According to custom the guest was suppose to bathe (louo) before coming to a feast and so only the feet had to be washed (nipto) on removing the sandals.)

John 13:12-20 "So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, 'Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture (Psalm 41:9) may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.'" (KJV)

John 13:12-20 "When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, 'Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture (Psalm 41:9) will be fulfilled, 'He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me. I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.'" (ESV)

John 13:12-20 "So when he was done he put on his robe again and reclined at the table and asked them, 'Do you understand what I have just done? You call me your instructor and Lord and its good; for so I am; If I, your teacher and Lord have washed your feet; you too ought to wash one another's feet! For I have demonstrated an example for you to mirror. For I would want you to know most certainly that the servant is not greater than his Lord and the one sent is not greater than the one who sent him. To know these things is to find your joy in expressing them in your lifestyle. I am not talking about all of you; I have chosen you and know that one of you will kick me like a horse, just as it is written (in Psalm 41:9), "Even my trusted friend, who ate bread with me has turned his heel against me.' (Psalm 41:9 In Greek literature the metaphor is of one administering a kick. Thus Plutarch, describing the robber Sciron, who was accustomed "out of insolence and wantonness to stretch forth his feet to strangers, commanding them to wash them, and then, when they did it, with a kick to send them down the rocks into the sea!") I'm telling you this in advance so when it happens you may be persuaded about me. I also assure you that whoever can [1] identify with your mission, identifies with me and therefore identifies with him who sent me.'" (The word [1] lambano, means to take to oneself, to comprehend, grasp, to identify with.)

In our next visit we will look, the LORD willing, at verse 21 and no.
